Three people tragically lost their lives in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, after their car was guided by Google Maps to an unfinished flyover. The car plunged from the incomplete bridge into the Ramganga River, around 50 feet below, police reported.
The men were traveling from Gurugram to Bareilly to attend a wedding. Relying on Google Maps for directions, they unknowingly drove onto the under-construction bridge. The vehicle fell into the shallow river, resulting in their deaths.
Early on Sunday morning, locals discovered the damaged car in the river with the three men inside. They immediately notified the police. Upon arrival, officers found a Wagon R—likely a hired taxi—at the scene. The car had fallen from the unfinished bridge.
Police confirmed the identities of two victims, Amit and Vivek, while the identity of the third person is still being confirmed. The bodies were sent for a post-mortem examination.
Family members of the victims have blamed officials for the incident, questioning why the bridge was left incomplete without proper safety measures like barricades. They are calling for an FIR to be filed against the construction department for negligence.
This tragic event highlights the danger posed by unfinished infrastructure and the need for proper safety precautions on public roads.
