Union Minister Visits ICAT, Sees Advanced Facilities
Manesar, January 20, 2025 — Union Minister for Heavy Industries, Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy, visited the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) in Manesar today. He toured its labs, testing tracks, and advanced tech for crash tests and fuel studies. He also laid the foundation stone for a new Electrical & Electronics Lab and the Centre of Excellence for Advanced Automotive IT Services (AAITS).
ICAT: A Symbol of India’s Automotive Ambition
The minister called ICAT a “beacon of India’s automotive dreams.” He praised its modern labs and strict testing methods. These show India’s strong will for automotive excellence.
He also stressed the role ICAT plays in road safety. He said, “The tests here help make roads safer for all.”
Backing Electric Mobility and National Programs
Kumaraswamy highlighted ICAT’s support for key government programs. These include the FAME scheme, PM eDrive, and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
These programs push electric vehicles and local manufacturing. The minister said, “ICAT drives India’s move to electric and sustainable transport.” He added that the center matches the government and industry’s shared vision for the future.
ICAT’s Role in India’s Economy
ICAT works under the National Automotive Board, Ministry of Heavy Industries. It offers world-class automotive testing, certification, research, and design.
The automotive sector adds over 7% to India’s GDP. It also employs millions. ICAT supports this big and growing industry.
Kumaraswamy promised government help to grow ICAT further. He said, “We want India to be a global hub for auto innovation.” He also said India will deliver safer and smarter vehicles worldwide.
