Union Minister Kamlesh Paswan Leads Outreach in Majuli

RR Team, February 25, 2026February 25, 2026
Union Minister of State for Rural Development Shri Kamlesh Paswan undertook a series of public outreach and developmental engagements in Majuli district of Assam on February 25, 2026. His visit combined environmental action, grassroots interaction, and policy review, reflecting the Centre’s focus on inclusive rural transformation.

Participation in “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”

The Minister participated in the plantation drive titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” near Court Field in Garamur. The initiative promotes environmental awareness and community participation by encouraging citizens to plant trees in honour of their mothers.

By joining the programme, Shri Paswan reiterated the government’s commitment to environmental sustainability alongside rural development. The campaign reflects a broader effort to combine ecological responsibility with citizen engagement at the grassroots level.

Focus on Education and Child Welfare

Following the plantation drive, the Minister visited the Gubinpur Model Anganwadi Centre (AWC) and Gubinpur LP School. During his interaction with students, parents, teachers, and anganwadi workers, he reviewed facilities and ongoing welfare initiatives.

He encouraged children to pursue education with dedication and acknowledged the crucial role of teachers and frontline workers in strengthening foundational learning. The Minister emphasised that early childhood care, nutrition, and quality primary education are central to building a self-reliant India.

He also appreciated the contribution of anganwadi workers in delivering nutrition and welfare services at the grassroots, underscoring their role in supporting maternal and child health in rural areas.

Seminar on Vikasit Bharat and Rural Livelihoods

Later in the day, Shri Paswan attended a seminar on “Vikasit Bharat – Guarantee for Rojgar and Ajeevika Mission – Gramin (VB-G RAM-G)” at the Integrated DC Office in Garamur. The programme saw participation from Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members, senior district officials, and representatives of the local administration.

During the seminar, discussions centred on strengthening rural livelihoods, promoting self-employment opportunities, and ensuring effective implementation of welfare schemes. The Minister highlighted the Government of India’s commitment to last-mile delivery and inclusive growth.

He stressed that initiatives under the Rural Development Ministry aim to empower rural households by enhancing skill development, improving employment prospects, and supporting sustainable income generation models.

Commitment to Inclusive Growth

Addressing the media after the seminar, Shri Paswan expressed satisfaction with the progress of rural development programmes in Majuli. He reaffirmed the Centre’s continued support for holistic development that balances infrastructure, livelihoods, and social welfare.

The visit underscored the integration of environmental initiatives, educational strengthening, and livelihood promotion within the broader vision of Vikasit Bharat. It also reflected the government’s emphasis on direct engagement with communities to monitor implementation and gather feedback.

As Majuli continues to evolve as a key cultural and ecological region of Assam, the Minister’s outreach signals sustained attention toward empowering rural communities through participatory governance and targeted development programmes.
