Highlighting social responsibility, the Vice-President called upon students to participate actively in the nationwide movement against drug abuse. Describing drug use as a major societal challenge, he stressed that combating it should transcend religions, languages, and political affiliations. He emphasized that today’s youth will shape the India of 2047 and that their choices should prioritize societal welfare alongside personal success.

The Vice-President underscored that healthy political competition is crucial for social service, observing that democratic engagement should be constructive and oriented toward nation-building. Connecting the school’s legacy with national vision, he lauded the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi toward Viksit Bharat by 2047 and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, urging students to align personal growth with India’s developmental goals.
He also stressed that the centenary is an opportunity for renewal. As St. Stephen’s enters its second century, the school should adopt modern educational advancements while staying true to its moral and cultural ethos. The institution is expected to continue producing not only academic achievers but also responsible citizens committed to nation-building.

The centenary celebrations were attended by several dignitaries including the Governor of Kerala, Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar; Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas & Tourism, Shri Suresh Gopi; Kerala Transport Minister, Shri K. The Vice-President also paid floral tributes at the holy tomb of the Four Metropolitans at Mount Tabor Dayara in Pathanapuram, honoring the school’s religious and cultural heritage.
