Vice-President Lauds Labour Reforms & Youth Empowerment

Vice-President of India Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan today praised the Government of India’s extensive labour reforms, youth empowerment initiatives, and sports promotion programmes, emphasizing their role in strengthening social security, employability, and national pride.

Labour Reforms & Social Security Initiatives

During a meeting with Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Ministers of State Sushri Shobha Karandlaje and Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse, and senior officials, the Vice-President was briefed on key policy reforms by the Ministry of Labour & Employment. The initiatives aim to ensure decent working conditions, enhance worker welfare, improve employability, strengthen social security, and promote occupational health and safety.

Shri Radhakrishnan appreciated reforms such as the E-Shram Portal, Shram Suvidha Portal, Pradhan Mantri Vikshit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, and the National Career Service Portal. He lauded efforts to simplify labour laws and enhance opportunities for employment across sectors, highlighting their importance in achieving inclusive economic growth.

Youth Empowerment and Exchange Programmes

The Vice-President was informed about the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports’ programmes aimed at nurturing leadership and civic responsibility among young Indians. Key initiatives include the National Youth Policy, Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), National Service Scheme, Youth Hostels, and National Youth Awards.

Shri Radhakrishnan appreciated the MY Bharat Portal for connecting youth nationwide through both digital platforms and on-ground engagement. He emphasized the role of youth exchange programmes in promoting cultural understanding and strengthening the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. Innovative programmes such as Youth 20 (Y20) Summit, Meri Maati Mera Desh, Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025, and Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat were also highlighted.

Sports Promotion and Global Competitions

The Vice-President commended the Ministry’s sports development initiatives including Khelo India, Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), Assistance to National Sports Federations, Khelo Bharat Niti, and the One Corporate One Sport CSR model. He praised the outstanding achievements of Indian athletes, especially female sportspersons, at international competitions such as the Olympics and Paralympics.

Shri Radhakrishnan stressed that hosting major international sporting events like the Olympics in India would be a game-changer for Indian sports, encouraging greater participation and positioning India as a rising global sporting nation.
