Vice-President Radhakrishnan Highlights Gita’s Timeless Guidance at Kurukshetra

RR Team, November 30, 2025December 1, 2025
The Vice-President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, delivered a powerful and reflective address at the Akhil Bhartiya Devsthanam Sammelan in Kurukshetra on Sunday. Held alongside the International Gita Mahotsav 2025, the event celebrated Bharat’s spiritual legacy, the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, and the nation’s collective journey towards Aatma Nirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @2047.

Gita as a Universal Guide for Righteous Living

Addressing scholars, saints, and devotees, the Vice-President described the Bhagavad Gita as a “universal manual for righteous living, courageous action, and enlightened consciousness.” He said that despite being rooted in an ancient era, the Gita continues to offer practical guidance on duty, character, and inner clarity.

Standing on what he called the “sacred soil of Kurukshetra,” he highlighted its historical significance as the land where Lord Krishna imparted the divine wisdom of the Gita to Arjuna. This wisdom, he said, remains relevant for individuals as well as nations navigating the complexities of modern life.

Character Above All Achievements

The Vice-President stressed that “character is far more important than wealth or worldly accomplishments.” He explained that the Gita teaches humanity to cultivate self-discipline, moral integrity, and a sense of righteous purpose values that have shaped Indian civilization for centuries.

He added that clarity of purpose and dedication to dharma not only elevate individuals but also strengthen societies and institutions. As India advances rapidly on multiple fronts, he said, these values must remain the foundation of national progress.

Gita’s Relevance in an Age of Change

In an era marked by technological shifts, global uncertainty, and evolving socio-economic systems, the Vice-President said the Gita serves as a guiding light. Its teachings on balance, duty, and inner resilience help societies navigate change with wisdom and confidence.

He noted the growing global footprint of the International Gita Mahotsav. What began as an annual celebration of Gita Jayanti has, over the past nine years, grown into one of the world’s most significant cultural and spiritual festivals.

Appreciation for Haryana Government’s Efforts

Commending the Government of Haryana, especially Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini, the Vice-President praised the state’s efforts in promoting the Mahotsav at an international scale. He said the celebration has become a global platform showcasing Sanatan Dharma, Indian heritage, and the profound values of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita.

He also appreciated the role of the Kurukshetra Development Board and the Gita Knowledge Institute in bringing together saints, scholars, cultural experts, technology innovators, and youth leaders. Such gatherings, he said, strengthen dialogue and deepen India’s cultural exchange.

Pathway to Aatma Nirbhar Bharat & Viksit Bharat @2047

Highlighting the Prime Minister’s vision for India, the Vice-President said the principles of the Bhagavad Gita duty, discipline, fearlessness, and selfless action are essential for building an Aatma Nirbhar and fully developed Bharat by 2047.

He urged citizens to internalize the Gita’s teachings and use them as guiding principles in personal life, governance, innovation, and nation-building.

Visit to Maa Bhadrakali Shaktipeeth

Earlier in the day, the Vice-President visited the Maa Bhadrakali Shaktipeeth Temple in Kurukshetra, offering prayers and acknowledging the region’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
