
Vice-President reviews academic and innovation ecosystem

During the presentation, Prof. Babu shared details about the University’s academic courses, infrastructure, student welfare initiatives, research activities, alumni engagement, and renewable energy projects on campus. The Vice-President praised the institution’s efforts and encouraged further integration of cutting-edge research and technology to align with industry needs.
He stressed the importance of introducing advanced courses in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and renewable energy systems. “Universities must prepare students for future challenges and industries driven by innovation,” Shri Radhakrishnan noted.
Clean and inclusive campuses under Swachh Bharat Mission
Highlighting the significance of cleanliness and inclusivity, the Vice-President urged Pondicherry University to maintain a clean, green, and inclusive campus environment under the Swachh Bharat Mission. He advised that all public universities adopt sustainable practices such as solar power generation, waste segregation, and efficient water management.
He also called for strict adherence to reservation policies for SC/ST students and greater representation of local communities in educational initiatives, ensuring that higher education becomes a tool of social equity and empowerment.
Student safety and welfare at the forefront
The Vice-President emphasised the need for a safe and inclusive learning environment, particularly for girl students. He advised the University to install advanced security systems, implement regular safety audits, and strengthen anti-harassment measures on campus.
He further highlighted the importance of addressing drug abuse among youth. “We must raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance use and promote healthy lifestyles through counselling and motivation programmes,” he said.
Strengthening research, rankings, and outreach
Shri Radhakrishnan encouraged the University to enhance its national and global rankings by focusing on research that has practical societal applications. He suggested stronger collaborations with industries, improved faculty development programmes, and better monitoring of affiliated colleges to ensure academic quality and accountability.
“Academic excellence must go hand-in-hand with holistic development. Our universities should produce responsible, skilled, and compassionate citizens who can lead India into the next era of growth,” he remarked.
