Vice-President to Inaugurate New Satram in Varanasi

RR Team, October 31, 2025October 31, 2025
The Vice-President of India, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, will embark on a one-day visit to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on October 31, 2025. During the visit, he will serve as the Chief Guest at the inauguration ceremony of the newly built Satram Building at Sigra, marking a significant cultural event in the holy city.

Strengthening the Kashi–Tamil Nadu Cultural Bond

The event will highlight the enduring spiritual and cultural connection between Kashi (Varanasi) and Tamil Nadu — a bond deeply rooted in shared traditions, faith, and history. This initiative echoes the essence of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, the government’s vision to foster unity through cultural exchange across Indian states.

The new Satram, built by the Sri Kasi Nattukkottai Nagara Satram Managing Society, stands as a modern facility dedicated to serving devotees visiting the sacred city. It aims to strengthen the historical ties between the Tamil community and Varanasi, encouraging future generations to continue this spiritual journey.

A New Landmark for Devotees in Varanasi

The 10-storey Satram complex, constructed at a cost of ₹60 crore, features 140 rooms equipped with modern amenities. Designed to accommodate pilgrims and cultural visitors, it represents the society’s second such facility in the city. The first Satram, built years ago, has long served Tamil devotees visiting Kashi for religious and cultural purposes.

According to official sources, the new facility will enhance the pilgrimage experience by offering comfortable lodging and hospitality for visitors from Tamil Nadu and other regions of India.

Leaders to Grace the Ceremony

Vice-President Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the Satram in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath. Senior leaders, community representatives, and spiritual heads are also expected to attend the ceremony. The event will celebrate not only the completion of a major infrastructure project but also the unity of India’s diverse spiritual traditions.

Visit to Kashi Vishwanath Temple

Following the inauguration ceremony, the Vice-President will visit the revered Kashi Vishwanath Temple to offer prayers. The visit underscores his commitment to promoting India’s spiritual heritage and cultural inclusiveness.

This visit aligns with his broader efforts to strengthen inter-state cultural ties and highlight India’s living traditions that connect people beyond linguistic and regional boundaries.

Symbol of Unity and Shared Heritage

The inauguration of the new Satram is more than just an infrastructural milestone  it is a reaffirmation of India’s cultural unity. For centuries, pilgrims from Tamil Nadu have journeyed to Kashi, contributing to the vibrant intermingling of traditions that define India’s civilizational fabric.

The event is expected to inspire future initiatives promoting the Kashi–Tamil Sangamam spirit and deepen cultural exchanges between northern and southern India.
