VP Briefed on Commerce Ministry’s Global Export Strategy

The Vice President of India, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, was briefed today by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, along with senior ministry officials, at Parliament House. The meeting focused on India’s strategic initiatives aimed at bolstering its position as a global manufacturing and export hub.
During the briefing, the Vice President was apprised of various government schemes and programs designed to enhance India’s manufacturing capabilities and streamline business operations. Key initiatives discussed included:
  • Make in India: Aimed at encouraging domestic manufacturing and attracting foreign investments.
  • Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme: Designed to boost production in key sectors by offering incentives to manufacturers.
  • PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan: A comprehensive infrastructure development plan to reduce logistics costs and improve connectivity.
  • Start-up India: An initiative to promote entrepreneurship and innovation across the country.
  • National Manufacturing Mission: Focused on enhancing the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector.
  • Free Trade Agreements (FTAs): Efforts to expand India’s trade relations through strategic agreements.
  • One District One Product (ODOP): A program to promote local products and boost exports.
  • Industrial Corridors and Special Economic Zones (SEZs): Development of infrastructure to facilitate industrial growth and exports.
  • Protection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR): Measures to safeguard innovations and encourage research and development.

Shri Radhakrishnan expressed appreciation for the government’s efforts in positioning India as a global manufacturing and export hub. He emphasized the importance of coordinated action across all departments to achieve the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
