VP Radhakrishnan Lauds Andhra at Vijayawada Utsav 2025

Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh: Vice President of India Shri CP Radhakrishnan commenced his maiden state visit with prayers at the revered Kanak Durga Temple before gracing the Vijayawada Utsav 2025 as the Chief Guest. The festival, held at Punnamy Ghat, brought together culture, spirituality, and economic aspirations on the auspicious occasion of Navratri.
He was warmly welcomed at Vijayawada airport by Governor Shri S. Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, along with a ceremonial Guard of Honour.

A Festival of Culture and Unity

The Vice President attended cultural performances showcasing Andhra Pradesh’s rich traditions. An audio-visual presentation highlighted the historical and social importance of Vijayawada Utsav, celebrated simultaneously across five venues in the city. Calling it one of the largest cultural festivals globally, Shri Radhakrishnan expressed hope that the Utsav would continue for generations, connecting people across regions.

Quoting Saint Bharathiyar in Tamil, he emphasized unity in diversity, noting that while India speaks in many tongues, its core dharma and values remain one.

Navratri and Women’s Empowerment

Linking his address to the ongoing Navratri celebrations, the Vice President underlined that it is the only festival dedicated entirely to goddesses, reflecting the importance of women in Indian culture. Sharing his experience at the Kanak Durga and Annapurni shrines, he said that feeding the poor is the truest form of worship.

Andhra Pradesh’s Growth Story

Shri Radhakrishnan lauded the people of Vijayawada for their hospitality and humorously remarked that while the city is known for its heat and spicy food, its people are among the coolest in the country. He highlighted Vijayawada’s rapid growth, predicting it will soon rank among India’s most vibrant urban centers.

Commending the contribution of Andhra Pradesh’s farmers, he noted that the state not only feeds itself but also supports the food security of the nation. He praised Andhra Pradesh’s achievements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and public welfare, while acknowledging its emergence as a hub for IT and biotechnology innovation.

Andhra Pradesh is among the top states in economic growth, backed by inclusive policies and innovation-driven development.

A Personal and Historic Visit

Expressing gratitude for the affection shown during his first official state visit outside Delhi, Shri Radhakrishnan said he was honored to begin his journey in Vijayawada. He called the Utsav a proud moment for the Telugu community and a window to showcase Andhra’s culture to the world. Concluding his speech, he prayed at Kanak Durga Temple for the health and happiness of all citizens and the continued prosperity of Andhra Pradesh.

The event was attended by Union Minister of Culture & Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Sri Satya Kumar Yadav, Tourism Minister Shri Kandula Durgesh, and MP Shri Kesineni Sivanath.
