In a significant step towards shaping the future of aviation in India, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated the curtain raiser event for Wings India 2026, Asia’s premier civil aviation show. Held at the iconic Taj Palace in New Delhi, the event brought together key dignitaries, policymakers, industry leaders, and aviation enthusiasts, all united by a shared vision—to elevate India’s place in the global aviation landscape.
The atmosphere was marked by optimism and ambition as Minister Ram Mohan Naidu unveiled the Wings India 2026 brochure, promotional video, and a newly launched mobile app designed to encourage participation and engagement from global stakeholders. In his impassioned keynote address, the Minister spoke proudly of India’s growing stature, highlighting that the country has already emerged as the third-largest domestic aviation market and is on the brink of becoming the third-largest overall air passenger market in the world.
Minister Naidu also announced the theme for Wings India 2026: “Indian Aviation: Paving the Future – from Design to Deployment, Manufacturing to Maintenance, Inclusivity to Innovation and Safety to Sustainability.” He described the event not merely as a showcase but as a vision statement that underlines India’s ambitions to lead the global aviation sector with innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability at its core.
Joining him at the event was Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, who acknowledged the vital role played by state governments in supporting aviation growth. From expanding regional connectivity to fostering economic development through new airports, the contributions at the grassroots level have been instrumental. He reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to initiatives like the UDAN scheme, which has brought Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities into the national aviation grid, opening doors to tourism, trade, and employment for many underserved communities.
Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Samir Kumar Sinha, brought attention to the government’s steadfast focus on innovation and sustainability. He emphasized India’s potential to become a global leader in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and the promising future of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) solutions like drones and eVTOLs—technologies that could redefine urban and regional travel.
Airport Authority of India Chairman Vipin Kumar, in his welcome address, highlighted AAI’s ongoing efforts to expand airport infrastructure and improve air navigation services. Industry voices, including Remi Maillard, Chairman of FICCI’s Civil Aviation Committee and President & MD of Airbus India and South Asia, expressed confidence in India’s capability to not only keep pace with global trends but to set them.
The curtain raiser witnessed participation from senior government officials, global aviation leaders, diplomats, and media representatives. All eyes are now set on Wings India 2026, scheduled from January 28 to 31, 2026, at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad. The event promises to be a landmark gathering of airlines, manufacturers, investors, airport developers, and innovators from across the globe, paving the way for an inclusive, sustainable, and high-flying future for Indian aviation.
