🪷 A Movement Rooted in Tradition, Growing Globally
The 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) is set to unfold as the most expansive and inclusive celebration of wellness the world has ever witnessed. On June 21, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead a Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) session in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, joined by over 5 lakh participants, symbolising a unified global breath toward health and harmony.
📍 Curtain Raiser in Delhi Sets the Tone
Held at the National Media Centre, the curtain raiser event was led by Union Ayush Minister Shri Prataprao Jadhav and Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha. The event marked the official countdown to IDY 2025, setting the stage for a wave of nationwide and international yoga sessions under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
🌏 From Mysuru to Manhattan: A Decade of Unity
“Shri Jadhav highlighted that the UN adopted 21st June as IDY in 2014 after PM Modi’s proposal.”From the first grand celebration in New Delhi to global participation in New York, Mysuru, and Srinagar, the past ten years have seen yoga evolve into a powerful symbol of universal wellness and peace.
🔥 10 Signature Events Over 100 Days
To widen the reach and impact, the Ministry of Ayush has rolled out 10 Signature Events, each tailored for specific societal segments:

“The Signature Events include Yoga Samavesh, focusing on inclusivity; Yoga Bandhan, which promotes international partnerships; Yoga Bharati, designed for student engagement; and initiatives like Yoga Tech and Yoga for Women, targeting specific interest groups.”

“These events promote awareness and help make yoga a part of daily life as a lifestyle and preventive healthcare practice.”
🧘 Yoga Sangam: 1 Lakh+ Locations, 1 Common Goal
Beyond Visakhapatnam, over 1 lakh Yoga Sangam sessions will take place across India. These synchronized sessions aim to make IDY 2025 the largest simultaneous yoga demonstration in history. The scale reflects India’s resolve to make yoga a grassroots movement, accessible to every citizen.
🙏 Andhra Pradesh’s “YogaAndhra” Movement
Acknowledging the role of states, Shri Jadhav praised CM N. Chandrababu Naidu for initiating “YogaAndhra”—an ambitious campaign to engage 10 lakh regular yoga practitioners statewide. The synergy between central and state governments reflects India’s federal approach to wellness promotion.
🌐 International Outreach: 60+ Countries Join In
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha highlighted that over 60 countries have already begun celebrating IDY 2025, organising community yoga events in alignment with India’s global wellness initiative. The Ministry’s digital outreach and diplomatic collaboration ensure that yoga’s universal appeal reaches new frontiers.

Calling on media platforms, Shri Jadhav stated:

The Ministry’s extensive digital campaigns, countdown events in Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Nashik, and Puducherry, and strategic partnerships with international bodies are amplifying this mission worldwide.
