Yoga Day 2025: PM Modi Calls Yoga a Path to Global Peace

RR Team, June 21, 2025

Yoga Brings Peace Amid Global Unrest: PM Modi from Vizag

On the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the celebrations from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Emphasizing the power of Yoga in turbulent times, he said, “The world is witnessing tension and unrest, and in such times, Yoga provides the direction of peace.”

Highlighting this year’s theme — “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” — the Prime Minister called Yoga the “pause button” that the world needs. “Yoga helps us breathe, balance, and become whole again,” he stated, addressing a gathering of over 3 lakh people along a 26-km yoga corridor in the coastal city.

Yoga Beyond Borders and Barriers

PM Modi underscored how Yoga transcends boundaries, backgrounds, and abilities. “From visually impaired students learning Yoga in Braille to astronauts practicing Yoga in space, its reach is universal,” he said. He also cited yoga sessions held at iconic locations like the Opera House steps, Mount Everest, and the open seas.

“Yoga is for everyone,” he added, urging for a collective mindset of peace and harmony. Modi’s message resonated with the global movement of wellness that Yoga now represents.

From UNGA to Global Movement

Recalling the historic moment at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), PM Modi said, “When India proposed recognizing June 21 as International Yoga Day, 175 countries supported it within a short time. This global consensus is extraordinary.”

“Let this Yoga Day be the beginning of Yoga for Humanity 2.0, where inner peace becomes global policy,” he added, calling for collective introspection and healing.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan were also present at the event. Naidu praised Modi’s leadership in making Yoga a global wellness phenomenon. He highlighted that Yoga Day is now celebrated across 175+ countries, in over 12 lakh locations, with more than 10 crore participants.

Global Peace Through Inner Harmony

Modi’s message aligns with broader efforts to incorporate traditional wellness systems into mainstream global discourse. As stress, climate challenges, and geopolitical unrest persist, Yoga offers a non-invasive, accessible, and holistic solution for individuals and societies alike.

For India, Yoga is not just a tradition but a strategic soft power tool, bridging cultures and promoting peace. Events like this bolster the country’s image as a global wellness leader.
