Inauguration of New Facilities
As an alumnus of DHS Kanoi College, Shri Sonowal inaugurated a fitness centre, a drinking water facility, and the Dr. Yogiraj Basu Memorial Science & Technology Building. These projects were funded under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) and aim to strengthen holistic education at the institution.
The minister said that these initiatives represent a balance of intellectual, physical, and emotional growth. The fitness centre promotes discipline and wellness, the drinking water facility ensures clean water access, and the Science & Technology Building will foster research and innovation among students.
Youth as Drivers of Transformation
In his address, Shri Sonowal emphasized that India’s strength lies in its youth. He said, “You are not just students; you are leaders of change. In this Amrit Kaal, you have the opportunity to become agents of transformation for your society, economy, and nation.”
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a self-reliant India, Sonowal encouraged the youth to embrace fitness, knowledge, and responsible living to contribute to the nation’s progress.
Focus on Health and Happiness
The minister underlined the importance of good health in nation-building, noting that yoga offers balance and clarity in life. “Through good health, you can contribute to society with greater strength,” he said, reinforcing the government’s emphasis on wellness alongside education.
Opportunities in Atmanirbhar Bharat
Shri Sonowal reminded students that the era of Atmanirbhar Bharat provides unprecedented scope for innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership. He said the transformation to Viksit Bharat can only succeed if young Indians take active leadership roles.
The minister further stressed that the government’s principle of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” will only be realized when the youth channel their energy into education, fitness, and innovation.
Community Participation and Cultural Spirit
The event featured cultural and academic performances by students, which Sonowal praised as “deeply inspiring.” He commended the students’ creativity and energy, encouraging them to carry forward India’s traditions of resilience and innovation while remaining rooted in compassion and responsibility.
The programme was attended by Assam Cabinet Minister and MLA Shri Prashanta Phukan, ATDC Chairman Shri Rituparna Baruah, DMC Deputy Mayor Shri Ujjal Phukan, DDA Chairman Shri Asim Hazarika, and college Principal Dr. Shashikanta Saikia, along with other dignitaries.
