Youth Empowerment Key to Viksit Bharat: Om Birla

RR Team, July 19, 2025July 18, 2025

Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla addressed the JITEM Youth Conclave 2025 in Gurugram with a powerful message: India’s youth are the drivers of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He emphasized that they need the right guidance, technical support, and policy-making to realize this vision.

Youth: The Torchbearers of Change

Shri Birla spoke passionately about the immense potential of Indian youth. He said they have the zeal for nation-building, the passion for change, and the ability to shape the future. They are not just job seekers but are evolving as job creators.

He credited national initiatives like Start-up India, Skill India, Make in India, and the Green Energy Mission for harnessing the energy of the youth in the right direction. These campaigns have empowered them to take charge of India’s development journey.

Guidance and Technology: Key to Growth

Highlighting the need for targeted support, Shri Birla urged institutions and leaders to provide right guidance and modern technology. Youth, he said, can achieve great things when they receive strong mentorship and exposure to innovation.

He noted that the Jain community’s efforts in education and entrepreneurship serve as a model for others. Their initiatives uplift not just their own but society at large.

Antyodaya: A Shared Responsibility

The Speaker invoked the philosophy of “Antyodaya”—uplifting the last person. He said that leaving no one behind in the race for development is a collective responsibility. Social organizations must work alongside the government to ensure inclusive growth.

He praised the Jain community’s commitment to service, ethics, and equality. Their actions reflect the essence of Indian spiritual values, making them valuable contributors to nation-building.

JITO: A Hub for Innovation and Values

Shri Birla commended the Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) for combining tradition with progress. He said JITO is more than a trade platform—it is a space where new technology, innovation, Jain principles, and Lord Mahavir’s philosophy come together.

He highlighted JITO’s contributions in economic, educational, and service-oriented activities, which not only empower the Jain community but also strengthen the Indian economy.

Jain Community’s Global Contributions

Shri Birla stated that the Jain community has made a mark across various sectors—trade, science, politics, and social service. Their dedication and spiritual grounding have earned them respect not only in India but across the globe.

He added that their commitment to peace, social cooperation, and renunciation reflects the true spirit of India’s cultural and ethical heritage.

India’s Enduring Democratic Strength

Touching upon democracy, Shri Birla reminded the youth that Indian democracy is rooted in its ethos, not just in its Constitution. Despite global doubts at independence, India has proven that democracy can thrive in a large, diverse, and dynamic nation.

He noted that India’s strength lies in its ability to discuss, resolve, and act collectively in times of crisis. This, he said, is what makes India’s democratic model unique and strong.

Youth and Social Organizations Must Unite

Shri Birla urged social organizations like JITO to continue mentoring and guiding the youth. He emphasized that their involvement can shape a more resilient, empowered, and compassionate society.

With the right mix of vision, values, and action, the youth of India can fulfill the dream of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
