Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to launch the “NITI NCAER States Economic Forum” portal on April 1, 2025, in New Delhi, marking a significant step toward enhancing data accessibility and research on state finances. Developed by NITI Aayog in collaboration with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), this portal will serve as a comprehensive repository of economic, social, and fiscal data spanning over three decades, from 1990-91 to 2022-23.
The initiative aims to provide policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders with valuable insights into India’s economic landscape at the state level. With a structured approach, the portal will offer detailed state reports summarizing key economic and fiscal indicators, a robust data repository covering demography, economic structure, health, and education, and an interactive dashboard featuring graphical representations of economic trends. Additionally, a dedicated research and commentary section will offer expert analyses on state finances and fiscal policies.
This platform is expected to bridge existing gaps in data consolidation, making vital information easily accessible in a user-friendly format. By allowing comparative analysis between states and national benchmarks, it will support more informed discussions and evidence-based policymaking. The portal’s launch underscores the government’s commitment to transparency, data-driven governance, and economic planning, ensuring that researchers and policymakers have the tools they need to track progress and shape future strategies.
