SBI Donates School Bus to NISR Leh Under CSR Initiative

Leh, 18 September 2025 – In a significant move to support education and regional development, the State Bank of India (SBI) has donated a school bus to the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa (NISR), Leh, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The formal handover ceremony took place today, with Shri Krishan Sharma, Chief General Manager, Chandigarh Circle, SBI, presenting the school bus to Dr. Padma Gurmet, Director of NISR. The event was attended by key SBI officials including Shri Jayant Mani, Deputy General Manager, Business & Operations, J&K Zone, and Shri Anil Tondon, Chief Manager, SBI Leh Branch, alongside faculty members, staff, and students of NISR.

Expressing gratitude, Dr. Padma Gurmet thanked SBI for its generous contribution, highlighting how the school bus will enhance accessibility for students and support ongoing educational activities. Dr. Gurmet also provided an overview of NISR’s initiatives aimed at promoting public welfare and preserving the traditional medical system of Sowa-Rigpa.

Shri Krishan Sharma, addressing the gathering, reaffirmed SBI’s commitment to community welfare and regional development. He emphasized the bank’s ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships with institutions that contribute to public service and social progress, noting that initiatives like this reflect SBI’s dedication to socio-economic development in Ladakh.

The donation is part of SBI’s broader CSR strategy, which aims to enhance education, healthcare, and infrastructure across India. By supporting institutions such as NISR, the bank is actively contributing to preserving traditional knowledge systems while promoting access to quality education in remote regions.
