Widespread Health Camps Across India
On the first day, around 50 camps were held in cities including Subhash Nagar and Ashok Vihar in Delhi, Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, Chandrapura in Jharkhand, Ludhiana in Punjab, Hubballi-Dharwad and Dakshina Kannada in Karnataka, Pune in Maharashtra, Chennai and Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Jaipur, Dehradun, and Bulandshahr. Each camp attracted an average of 100 participants, with special attention to women and senior citizens.
The services offered included general health check-ups, free blood tests, blood pressure and thyroid screenings, and consultations covering chronic conditions, infections, pediatric care, nephrology, and diabetology. Additional services such as physiotherapy, eye check-ups, and child health initiatives were also conducted at several centers. Free distribution of Janaushadhi medicines was a highlight across locations.
Dignitaries Support the Initiative
The camps were inaugurated and attended by several dignitaries, including Members of Parliament and Legislative Assemblies, as well as senior medical professionals. Notable attendees included Shri Eatala Rajendar, MP from Malkajigiri, Telangana; Shri K. A. Pandian, MLA from Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu; Shri Pappu Kumar Verma, MLA from Kurtha, Bihar; and Shri Sanjay Kumar, MLA from Kumrarr, Patna, Bihar. They appreciated the initiative and encouraged citizens to adopt quality generic medicines available at PMBJAKs.
Expanding Access to Affordable Medicines
Currently, over 18,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras operate across India, with plans to expand the network to 25,000 by March 2027. The “Jan Aushadhi Sugam” mobile app enables citizens to locate the nearest Kendra and access affordable medicines. Through such initiatives, PMBJP continues to strengthen India’s healthcare system, ensuring equitable access to quality medicines for all.
The celebrations will continue until 7th March, featuring outreach programs designed to engage healthcare professionals and the general public in promoting the benefits of generic medicines and preventive healthcare.
