ADEETIE Scheme Empowers MSMEs with ₹1000 Cr for Green Tech

RR Team, July 15, 2025July 16, 2025

India has taken a bold step towards industrial sustainability. The Government has launched the ADEETIE scheme to accelerate energy efficiency in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, launched the scheme in Panipat, Haryana. This game-changing move aims to reduce India’s carbon footprint while making its industries globally competitive.

What is ADEETIE?

ADEETIE stands for Assistance in Deploying Energy Efficient Technologies in Industries & Establishments. It’s a ₹1000 crore initiative of the Ministry of Power, implemented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).

The scheme supports MSMEs in switching to clean, energy-saving technologies. It covers 14 energy-intensive sectors, including textiles, steel, food processing, and chemicals.

The goal is clear: empower MSMEs with financial and technical aid to adopt sustainable practices.

Big Budget, Bigger Impact

The scheme has a structured budget:

  • ₹875 crore for interest subvention
  • ₹50 crore for energy audits
  • ₹75 crore for implementation support

This budget is expected to mobilize ₹9000 crore in investments, including ₹6750 crore from MSMEs themselves.

The ADEETIE scheme doesn’t just support growth—it promotes green growth.

How ADEETIE Supports MSMEs

The scheme offers both financial relief and expert guidance.

  • 5% interest subvention for Micro & Small Enterprises
  • 3% interest subvention for Medium Enterprises
  • Investment Grade Energy Audits (IGEA)
  • Detailed Project Reports (DPRs)
  • Post-implementation Monitoring and Verification (M&V)

This end-to-end handholding ensures that MSMEs don’t just start the transition—they complete it successfully.

Why It Matters Now

India’s MSMEs form the backbone of the economy. But many still rely on energy-intensive and outdated technologies.

Shri Manohar Lal emphasized that energy efficiency is vital for reducing emissions and improving productivity. With ADEETIE, MSMEs can cut energy use by up to 50%.

Better power-to-product ratios and cleaner technologies mean reduced costs and lower pollution.

Boosting ‘Viksit Bharat’ Vision

The launch aligns with the government’s vision of “Viksit Bharat”, a developed India driven by sustainable practices.

The Minister noted, “ADEETIE is a transformative movement to empower Indian industries through sustainability. With the right mix of incentives, we’re catalyzing investment in cleaner technologies.”

Focus on Key Sectors

The scheme covers 14 critical sectors:

  • Textiles
  • Brass
  • Steel Re-rolling
  • Forging and Foundry
  • Leather
  • Paper
  • Glass
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Ceramics
  • Fishery
  • Food Processing
  • Chemicals
  • Bricks

These industries represent India’s industrial strength—and are now being powered by green innovation.

Phase-Wise Implementation

The ADEETIE scheme will roll out in phases:

  • Phase 1: 60 industrial clusters
  • Phase 2: Additional 100 clusters

This structure allows for course correction and scaling based on early learnings.

Empowering MSMEs with Tech and Trust

The ADEETIE portal (adeetie.beeindia.gov.in) is now live. It will make financing simple and transparent.

Two MSME representatives shared their success stories at the launch. Their testimonials proved that early adopters of energy audits have already seen benefits—both financially and environmentally.

Strong Support from Government Leaders

Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Power, highlighted BEE’s role in scaling energy efficiency.

He said, “ADEETIE will mainstream energy-saving practices in India’s industrial ecosystem.”

Shri A.K. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy), Haryana, stressed reducing dependency on coal and embracing renewables. He urged MSMEs to make the switch now.

Shri Akash Tripathi, Director General of BEE, outlined the scheme’s impact. He emphasized that energy efficiency is key to India’s export competitiveness.

Certificates and MoUs

During the event, appreciation certificates were given to MSMEs who joined the pilot phase. MoUs were signed with major industrial associations.

This reflects strong collaboration between government and industry—a must for lasting impact.

The Road Ahead

ADEETIE is more than a policy. It’s a path to a greener India.

By enabling MSMEs to adopt energy-efficient technologies, the scheme helps reduce emissions, lower costs, and improve productivity.

As India gears up for a low-carbon future, schemes like ADEETIE will be the driving force behind industrial transformation.
