Amit Shah to Speak at Cooperative Meet in Panchkula

RR Team, December 23, 2025December 24, 2025

Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah will address a high-level National Cooperative Conference organized by Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO) in Panchkula, Haryana, on 24 December 2025. The conference aims to chart a future roadmap for sustainable agriculture and farmer prosperity through a strengthened cooperative framework.

Titled “Prosperity through Cooperation – Role of Cooperatives in Sustainable Agriculture,” the national conference will bring together policymakers, cooperative leaders, farmers’ representatives and experts to deliberate on key policy and implementation challenges facing India’s agricultural sector.

Focus on Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Agriculture

The deliberations will focus on promoting sustainable agricultural practices through cooperatives, expanding the role of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), and ensuring income stability for small and marginal farmers. Special attention will be given to addressing climate change challenges through cooperative-based agricultural models.

Experts and policymakers are expected to discuss strategies for improving access to affordable credit, adopting modern agricultural technologies, and promoting organic and climate-resilient farming practices at the grassroots level.

Leadership Participation from Centre and State

Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini will attend the conference as a Special Guest, underscoring the state government’s commitment to strengthening the cooperative movement. Union Ministers of State for Cooperation Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar and Shri Murlidhar Mohol will also participate.

Haryana’s Minister of Cooperation Dr. Arvind Kumar Sharma and Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shri Shyam Singh Rana are among the key dignitaries expected at the event, reflecting strong Centre–State coordination in advancing cooperative reforms.

E-Inauguration of Key Cooperative Infrastructure

During the conference, Shri Amit Shah will e-inaugurate several cooperative infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening rural and agricultural value chains. These include a Milk Cooling Centre at Salempur in Bhiwani district and a new HAFED Atta Mill at Jatusana in Rewari district.

These facilities are expected to enhance processing capacity, reduce post-harvest losses and improve income opportunities for farmers associated with cooperative institutions.

Digital and Financial Empowerment Initiatives

The Union Minister will also distribute RuPay Platinum Debit Cards to beneficiaries of cooperative banks in Haryana, reinforcing financial inclusion through the cooperative banking network.

Registration certificates will be handed over to Presidents of newly established Multi-Purpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (M-PACS) formed by Haryana KRIBHCO, marking another step towards expanding cooperative services at the village level.

International Year of Cooperatives 2025

On the occasion, Shri Amit Shah will inaugurate a dedicated portal highlighting activities undertaken during the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) 2025. The portal will showcase initiatives, best practices and achievements of cooperative institutions across the country.

The conference is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Prosperity through Cooperation,” which seeks to empower farmers and rural communities by strengthening cooperatives as engines of inclusive growth.

KRIBHCO’s Role in India’s Cooperative Movement

KRIBHCO has played a pivotal role in supporting millions of farmers through fertilizer supply, agricultural advisory services and farmer-centric initiatives. The Panchkula conference is expected to provide strategic direction to the cooperative movement at a time when agriculture faces increasing economic and climate pressures.

Senior officials from the Union Ministry of Cooperation, KRIBHCO, the Government of Haryana, national and state cooperative institutions, PACS representatives and farmer organizations will participate in the deliberations.
