on Saturday inaugurated Andhra Pradesh’s first Gen-Z transformed campus Post Office
at VIT-AP University in Amaravati.
The initiative forms part of a nationwide drive by the Department of Posts to redesign
traditional campus Post Offices into contemporary, student-centric service hubs that
align with the aspirations, lifestyle and digital preferences of the younger generation.
Milestone in India Post’s Transformation Journey
The newly inaugurated VIT-AP University Sub Post Office represents a significant milestone
in India Post’s ongoing transformation journey. It reflects a strategic shift from
conventional service delivery models towards innovative, experience-driven public service spaces.
Designed with Gen-Z sensibilities in mind, the campus Post Office combines modern aesthetics,
creativity and functionality, offering students a welcoming environment that goes beyond
traditional postal counters.
Modern Facilities for a Digital Generation
The Gen-Z themed Post Office features several new-generation amenities aimed at enhancing
student engagement. These include an India Post literature wall, a coffee zone, a foosball table,
free Wi-Fi access, magazine stands and improved digital service interfaces.
These elements are intended to transform the Post Office into a vibrant campus space where
students can access essential services while also interacting, learning and spending time comfortably.
Special Postal Cover Released
On the occasion, Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar released a Special Postal Cover titled
“VIT: Gen-Z Themed Post Office of Andhra Pradesh”, commemorating the launch of the
state’s first campus Post Office designed specifically for young users.
Leadership and Dignitaries Present
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several senior officials and academic leaders,
including Ms. B. P. Sridevi, Chief Postmaster General of Andhra Pradesh Circle,
Dr. P. Arulmolivarman, Vice-Chancellor of VIT-AP University, and
Guntur District Collector Smt. A. Thameem Anasariya.
Senior postal officers, finance officials, university faculty members and students were
also present, reflecting strong institutional collaboration behind the initiative.
Bringing Services Closer to Students
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar said the initiative demonstrates
the Department of Posts’ commitment to reimagining Post Offices as vibrant, accessible
and future-ready service centres.
He emphasised that such campus-based facilities will help familiarise students with postal,
banking and insurance services at an early stage, while also promoting financial awareness
and inclusion among young citizens.
One-Stop Hub for Postal and Financial Services
Conceptualised exclusively for Gen-Z users, the campus Post Office offers simplified
service delivery, digital payment options and seamless access to postal, banking and
insurance services under one roof.
The initiative reinforces India Post’s broader focus on innovation, inclusivity and
customer-centric service delivery, particularly within educational institutions.
Connecting Young India with Public Services
With the launch of Andhra Pradesh’s first Gen-Z themed campus Post Office, India Post
has taken a decisive step towards bridging the gap between public service institutions
and young India.
Officials indicated that similar Gen-Z transformed Post Offices are planned across
other educational campuses in the country as part of the department’s long-term
modernisation roadmap.
