Ayodhya Marks 1st Anniversary of Ram Lalla Idol Consecration Ceremony

RR Team, January 11, 2025January 17, 2025

Ayodhya, the city of Lord Ram, is abuzz with celebrations marking the first anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha (idol consecration) ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol. The festivities began on Saturday, drawing a large number of devotees and pilgrims from across the country.

The celebrations, which will run from January 11 to 13, are taking place at the Ram Temple complex, with a series of religious and cultural events. The anniversary began with the chanting of Yajurveda mantras, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.

Grand Rituals and Events

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to lead the ‘abhishek’ ritual of the Ram Lalla idol, followed by a grand aarti around 12:20 PM. A traditional offering of 56 delicacies, known as “chhappan bhog,” will be presented to the deity during the ceremonies. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple has been adorned with vibrant floral decorations, enhancing the festive ambiance.

Champat Rai, the general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, stated that this year’s celebrations aim to include the common public, particularly those who could not attend the historic ceremony held on January 22, 2024.

Public Participation and Infrastructure

A German hangar tent at the Angad Teela site has been erected to accommodate up to 5,000 attendees. This pavilion will host classical cultural performances, daily Ram Katha recitations, and rituals in the Yagnashala. Saints, devotees, and pilgrims from across the country have been invited to take part in the festivities.

Local resident Anup Mishra expressed his gratitude for witnessing this grand celebration, saying, “I could not attend the Pran Pratishtha ceremony last year, but being here for the first anniversary fills me with immense joy.” Similarly, Sarla Maheshwari, a devotee from Bhopal, said, “We arrived in Ayodhya two days ago to be part of these sacred celebrations. Seeing the deity today is a dream come true.”

Significance of the Event

The consecration of the Ram Lalla idol in 2024 was a historic milestone, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who called it the beginning of a new era. The temple stands as a symbol of faith and perseverance, embodying decades of dedication toward reclaiming the sacred site.

As Ayodhya witnesses this vibrant celebration, the temple trust has urged everyone to visit and immerse themselves in the spiritual atmosphere, making this event not just a commemoration but a collective expression of devotion and unity.
