Bank Holiday Next Week: June 22 Only Closure Across India

RR Team, June 16, 2025June 15, 2025

Banks to Close Nationwide on June 22; Region-Wise Holidays Also Notified

Banks across India will remain closed on Sunday, June 22, 2025, as per the RBI’s holiday calendar. Since Sundays are standard weekly holidays for all banks, no additional nationwide bank closures are scheduled for the week of June 16–22.

Are Banks Open on June 21?

Yes, banks will remain open on Saturday, June 21, since it is the third Saturday of the month. According to RBI norms, banks operate on the first and third Saturdays while remaining closed on the second and fourth Saturdays.

Full List of June 2025 Bank Holidays (State-wise)

While June 22 is the only national holiday during the week, banks will observe additional state-specific holidays throughout the month.

Date Day Occasion States Affected
June 7 Saturday Bakrid (Id-Uz-Zuha) Pan-India
June 11 Wednesday Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti / Saga Dawa Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh
June 27 Friday Ratha Yatra / Kang (Rathajatra) Odisha, Manipur

Note: Check with your local branch or state government notification for confirmation.

Can You Use Online Banking on a Holiday?

Yes, online banking services like net banking, mobile apps, ATMs, debit/credit cards, UPI, and wallets remain fully operational during bank holidays. Customers can easily:

  • Transfer funds via NEFT, RTGS, IMPS

  • Check balances and mini statements

  • Pay bills and EMIs

  • Order cheque books or manage standing instructions

However, branch-based services such as locker access, form submissions, or in-person KYC updates will not be available during closures.

Understanding Bank Holiday Rules in India

Bank holidays in India fall under three broad categories:

  1. Weekend closures (Sundays + 2nd & 4th Saturdays)

  2. National holidays (Republic Day, Independence Day, etc.)

  3. State-wise or religious festivals, which vary regionally

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) publishes an annual calendar accounting for these differences.
