BJP Shares Video, Accuses RJD
The controversy erupted late Saturday night when the Bihar BJP unit posted a video on social media, purportedly showing offensive slogans shouted against the Prime Minister’s mother during Tejashwi Yadav’s address at a public meeting. The party claimed that Yadav encouraged the crowd instead of condemning the remarks.
“Tejashwi again facilitated the verbal abuse of Modi ji’s mother at his rally. The more abusive slogans RJD workers raised, the more Tejashwi encouraged them,” BJP Bihar alleged in a statement. The party said the people of Bihar, especially women, would not forget such insults.
RJD Denies, Calls Video Doctored
RJD leaders were quick to counter the charges. Mahua MLA Dr. Mukesh Roushan stated that the speech in question was available in full on social media and did not contain any abusive remarks. “The video shared by BJP is edited to defame our party and mislead voters ahead of the elections,” he said.
The RJD accused the BJP of orchestrating a smear campaign and insisted that Tejashwi Yadav never endorsed abusive language against the Prime Minister or his family.
Modi Responds To Earlier Incident
This is not the first time the issue has surfaced. Earlier in Darbhanga, offensive slogans against the Prime Minister were shouted from the Opposition’s stage, drawing sharp criticism from the BJP. PM Modi later addressed the controversy, saying, “These abuses are not just for my mother but for crores of mothers and sisters in India.”
Taking a swipe at Tejashwi Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Modi said dynastic leaders would never understand the struggles of underprivileged families. “Bihar’s people have blessed the son of a poor mother by making him the pradhan sevak,” the Prime Minister said.
High-Stakes Bihar Elections
The war of words comes as Bihar prepares for high-voltage assembly elections. Analysts say both sides are trying to consolidate voter sentiment, with the BJP projecting itself as a defender of dignity while the RJD is portraying itself as a victim of propaganda.
Independent observers note that unverified videos and aggressive social media campaigns have become common tools in Bihar’s political battlefield, often deepening polarisation among voters. recently cautioned against misinformation during elections, urging citizens to rely on trusted sources.
What Lies Ahead
The controversy is expected to intensify as campaigning gains momentum. While the BJP presses on with its emotional pitch, the RJD is preparing to highlight unemployment, price rise, and governance issues. Political analysts believe the mother-abuse row may become a recurring theme in the heated election season.
