BJP Condemns Abusive Language Against PM Modi, Heeraben During Bihar Yatra
New Delhi, August 28, 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday strongly condemned what it described as “extremely abusive language” directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother Heeraben Modi during the opposition’s ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar.
BJP Calls Incident Politics at Its Lowest
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the official BJP handle criticized opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, stating: “From the platform of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav’s journey, extremely indecent language was used against the late mother of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.”
The party further described the ongoing yatra as having crossed all boundaries of “insult, hatred, and vulgarity,” calling it an act of “politics at its lowest.”
BJP also pointed out that earlier, leaders like M.K. Stalin and Revanth Reddy, who allegedly insulted the people of Bihar, were invited to the yatra, further humiliating the state’s residents. The party accused the opposition of taking their desperation to a level where even revered figures like PM Modi’s late mother were being abused.
Video Sparks Public Outcry
The 33-second clip from Darbhanga shows opposition leaders’ supporters reportedly using abusive words at the podium. BJP claimed that the language used was so offensive that it cannot be repeated in public, adding that even repeated apologies from the leaders involved would not redeem the damage.
Context of the Voter Adhikar Yatra
The 16-day Voter Adhikar Yatra, covering more than 1,300 km across 20 districts in Bihar, involves Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. The yatra seeks to highlight alleged irregularities in the voter list, which opposition leaders have termed a case of “vote chori” or voter suppression. The journey is scheduled to conclude in Patna on September 1, ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections later this year. The Election Commission of India has not yet announced official poll dates.

Political Reactions
Political analysts suggest that such incidents may escalate tensions ahead of crucial state elections in Bihar. While the BJP condemns the incident as a breach of decency, opposition leaders argue that the yatra is intended to raise voter awareness on electoral issues.
