CAPF eAwas Allots 1.46 Lakh Family Quarters

RR Team, February 12, 2026
New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has informed Parliament that more than 1.46 lakh family accommodations have been allotted to personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles through the eAwas online portal since its launch in September 2022.
The data was shared by Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Nityanand Rai in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, highlighting the government’s efforts to streamline housing allotment through digital governance.

Digital Platform for Transparent Allotment

The CAPF eAwas web portal was launched on September 1, 2022, to facilitate online allotment of family quarters to serving personnel of CAPFs and the Assam Rifles. The platform was designed to bring transparency, efficiency and accountability to the housing allocation process.

According to the MHA, between September 1, 2022 and February 5, 2026, a total of 1,46,566 family accommodations were allotted through the portal. The system enables personnel to apply digitally, track status and receive allotment updates without manual intervention.

Force-Wise Allotment Details

The government provided a detailed break-up of allotments across different forces. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) accounted for the highest number, with 50,812 family accommodations allotted during the period.

The Border Security Force (BSF) followed closely with 48,854 allotments. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) received 18,324 quarters, while the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) saw 13,899 accommodations allotted.

Assam Rifles personnel were allotted 7,611 family quarters, and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) received 7,066 accommodations.

These figures collectively bring the total to 1,46,566 family accommodations allotted under the eAwas system.

Inter-Force Allotment Mechanism

In addition to standard allocations, the MHA informed that 1,324 accommodations were allotted through an Inter-force Allotment of Quarters mechanism. This provision allows better utilisation of available housing stock across different CAPFs and Assam Rifles units.

The inter-force mechanism is aimed at optimising vacant quarters and ensuring that personnel posted in various regions can access family accommodation more efficiently.

Welfare and Operational Readiness

Housing remains a key welfare concern for CAPF personnel, many of whom serve in challenging and remote areas. Timely allotment of family quarters plays a significant role in improving morale and supporting work-life balance.

Officials note that digitising the allotment process reduces administrative delays and enhances fairness. By eliminating manual processing, the eAwas system aims to minimise discrepancies and increase transparency.

The government has repeatedly emphasised the welfare of CAPF personnel as a priority, given their crucial role in internal security, border management and counter-insurgency operations.

Strengthening Digital Governance

The rollout of the CAPF eAwas portal reflects the broader push toward digital governance and service delivery reforms within the security establishment. Online systems such as eAwas are intended to reduce paperwork and streamline service-related processes.

As per the statement made in Parliament, the steady pace of allotments over the past three and a half years indicates growing reliance on the platform.

With over 1.46 lakh family accommodations allotted so far, the eAwas system has emerged as a key welfare initiative for CAPF and Assam Rifles personnel, reinforcing the government’s commitment to transparent and technology-driven administration.
