Chirag Paswan to Contest ‘For Bihar’, Slams INDIA Bloc
Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Sunday declared that he will contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections “not in Bihar, but for Bihar,” taking direct aim at the opposition’s “false narrative” about threats to the Constitution and reservation.
Targeting Opposition’s Allegations
Speaking at the Bahujan Bhim Sankalp Samagam in Rajgir, Nalanda — the home turf of CM Nitish Kumar — Paswan accused the INDIA bloc of misleading voters. He said the claim that PM Modi’s return to power would jeopardize the Constitution and reservation is nothing but fearmongering.
“They said the same during the Lok Sabha elections, and the people did not believe them. They chose PM Modi,” said Paswan, president of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
Jibe at Rahul Gandhi, Reminder of Emergency
Criticizing Rahul Gandhi, Paswan asked, “Why hasn’t he apologized for the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi? That was the true murder of the Constitution.”
He reminded the audience that many parties in the INDIA bloc were once victims of the Emergency. “Lalu Yadav was with Jayaprakash Narayan when the call for Sampoorna Kranti was raised. Now he aligns with the same Congress that insulted JP,” he added.
Mocking Tejashwi Yadav’s Promises
Paswan also took a dig at Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, leader of the RJD, over his promise to bring change in 20 months. “Let him first return the land acquired during the ‘land-for-jobs’ scam in his father’s time,” Paswan said, referring to allegations from Lalu Prasad’s tenure as Railway Minister.
Reiterates Commitment to Bihar
Reviving his 2020 slogan, ‘Bihar First, Bihari First’, Chirag said it still causes discomfort among rivals. “Every drop of my blood is for Bihar,” he proclaimed. “As long as I am alive, no one can harm the Constitution or reservation.”
He urged voters to re-elect the NDA in Bihar and stay alert to what he called “opposition propaganda.”
