Constitution Day 2025: Grand Ceremony at Samvidhan Sadan

RR Team, November 26, 2025November 27, 2025
India commemorated Constitution Day 2025 with a grand national ceremony at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to upholding the ideals and values enshrined in the Constitution. The solemn event brought together dignitaries from across the government and parliamentary bodies, including the President, Vice-President, Prime Minister, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Union Ministers, and Members of Parliament.

Key Highlights of the Ceremony

The celebration commenced with the National Anthem, followed by a Welcome Address by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and an address by the Vice-President. The President emphasized the Constitution’s pivotal role in guiding India’s democratic journey and urged citizens to uphold the principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. The event concluded with the President leading the reading of the Preamble, reinforcing India’s constitutional values.

Digital Initiatives and Citizen Engagement

Alongside the physical ceremony, several digital initiatives were launched to promote citizen participation. The Constitution of India was released in nine languages including Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Bodo, Kashmiri, Telugu, Odia, and Assamese. A commemorative booklet titled “भारत की संविधान से कला और कैलीग्राफी” was published by the Ministry of Culture. Officers and citizens were encouraged to participate in an online quiz on MyGov.in and Constitution75.com, along with essay and blog writing competitions on the theme “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhiman”.

Participation Across Railway and Government Divisions

Government officials and employees across various ministries observed Constitution Day by participating in live telecasts, reading the Preamble, and taking part in online quizzes. The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, acting as the nodal ministry, led these efforts to ensure nationwide engagement and to strengthen awareness about democratic values and civic responsibilities.

Significance of Constitution Day

Celebrated annually on 26 November, Constitution Day commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. The observance highlights the enduring principles of democracy and constitutional governance, fostering a collective sense of responsibility among citizens to protect the nation’s democratic fabric.
