Minister Praises CWC’s Expanding Role
Addressing the gathering, Shri Pralhad Joshi commended CWC for its sustained contribution to India’s food grain storage system and overall logistics development. He noted that the Corporation has played a critical role in reinforcing the country’s food security architecture by ensuring scientific storage and efficient movement of commodities.
The Minister emphasised that CWC is no longer confined to traditional warehousing operations. Over the years, it has diversified into integrated logistics services, expanding its footprint across supply chain management.
Encouraging the organisation to aim higher, Shri Joshi urged CWC to work towards attaining Maharatna status and to contribute significantly to India’s ambition of becoming one of the top 25 global logistics performers.
Proposal for Corporate Transformation
Highlighting future reforms, the Minister informed that, with the approval of the Prime Minister, a proposal will be initiated to transform CWC into a company structure. This step, he indicated, would further enhance operational flexibility and competitiveness in the logistics sector.
The move is expected to align CWC with evolving market dynamics and strengthen its ability to deliver modern, technology-driven logistics solutions.
Record Financial Performance in FY 2024–25
On the occasion, CWC Managing Director Shri Santosh Sinha presented a detailed overview of the Corporation’s performance during the financial year 2024–25. He announced that CWC achieved its highest-ever turnover of ₹2,776.88 crore and Profit Before Tax (PBT) of ₹711.60 crore.
This marks a significant increase compared to FY 2023–24, when the Corporation recorded a turnover of ₹2,303.81 crore and a PBT of ₹590.36 crore. A dividend of ₹160.10 crore has been proposed and paid for the year, reflecting robust financial health.
Shri Sinha expressed confidence that the Corporation is on track to achieve even higher revenue and profitability in FY 2025–26, supported by sustained operational efficiency and growth momentum.
Focus on Infrastructure and Digital Transformation
Looking ahead, CWC plans to prioritise infrastructure augmentation, digital transformation and enhanced operational efficiency. The Corporation aims to expand integrated logistics services to further strengthen supply chains and reduce overall logistics costs.
Digital initiatives are expected to improve transparency, streamline processes and enhance customer experience. The Corporation’s strategy aligns with the Government’s broader push to modernise India’s logistics ecosystem.
