DCPC Job Fair 2026 Highlights Push for Skill Development

RR Team, February 5, 2026February 5, 2026
The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening skill development and employment generation in the plastics and petrochemicals sector, with senior officials underscoring the need for industry-ready talent at the AIPMA Job Fair Season 2026 held in New Delhi. The event brought together government, industry, and academia to bridge the growing skills gap in a rapidly evolving manufacturing landscape.

DCPC Backs Skill Development Initiatives

Addressing participants at the job fair organised at the India Habitat Centre, DCPC Secretary Ms Nivedita Shukla Verma said the department is fully committed to supporting organisations that facilitate employment opportunities and skill upgradation for young people. She assured representatives of the All India Plastics Manufacturers Association (AIPMA) of all possible assistance from the department in taking such constructive initiatives forward.

The Secretary highlighted that the DCPC has been consistently backing programmes such as Rozgar Melas and structured skill development initiatives to ensure that youth are equipped with competencies aligned to industry needs. According to her, skilling and employability must go hand in hand to sustain growth in the chemicals and plastics sectors.

Role of CIPET in Industry-Oriented Training

Ms Verma also drew attention to the role of the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), which operates under the aegis of the department. She said CIPET has placed special emphasis on skill development by continuously upgrading its teaching methodologies and course content.

The focus, she noted, is on honing young talent in line with current and emerging requirements of the plastics and petrochemicals industry. With several international companies recruiting from India, there is a pressing need to constantly upgrade skills and qualifications to remain competitive in a globalised job market.

AIPMA Job Fair Season 2026

The AIPMA Job Fair Season 2026 was organised by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals in collaboration with the All India Plastics Manufacturers Association, with support from CIPET. The event is being seen as one of the largest job fairs dedicated to the plastics industry in the country.

More than 30 national and international companies participated, offering opportunities across manufacturing, design, quality control, research and development, and management roles. The fair highlighted the vast employment potential of the plastics sector, which continues to be a key contributor to India’s manufacturing ecosystem.

Strong Government and Industry Presence

The inaugural ceremony was attended by several senior officials and industry leaders. Apart from Ms Verma as Chief Guest, the event saw the presence of Shri Deepak Mishra, Joint Secretary (Petrochemicals), DCPC, Prof. (Dr.) Shishir Sinha, Director General of CIPET, and Ms Mercy Epao, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of MSME.

Their participation underscored the government’s coordinated approach to linking skilling initiatives with industrial growth, especially in sectors dominated by micro, small and medium enterprises.

Industry–Academia Collaboration in Focus

A key theme of the job fair was the strengthening of industry–academia collaboration. AIPMA showcased its efforts to act as a bridge between educational institutions and manufacturers, ensuring that curricula remain relevant and students are exposed to real-world industrial practices.

Speakers emphasised that such collaboration is essential for addressing skill mismatches and improving employability outcomes. The plastics industry, with its wide range of applications and technologies, requires a workforce that is both technically sound and adaptable.

Way Forward for Youth Employment

The DCPC-led initiative reflects a broader policy push to align skill development with the needs of fast-growing industrial sectors. By bringing employers and job seekers onto a common platform, the job fair aims to create sustainable employment pathways for young Indians.
