Lowest AQI Levels in Years
The average AQI in Delhi for January November 2025 was recorded at 187, marking a decline from 201 in 2024, 190 in 2023, and 199 in 2022. Over the same period, only three days experienced a daily average AQI exceeding 400, compared to 11 days in 2024 and 12 days in 2023. Furthermore, 2025 did not witness any day with AQI above 450, the ‘Severe+’ category.
Reduction in Particulate Matter
Particulate matter levels have also declined significantly. PM2.5 concentrations averaged 85 µg/m³, the lowest since 2018 except for 2020. PM10 levels showed a similar decline, averaging 183 µg/m³, highlighting improved air quality and better environmental conditions in the region.
Continuous Monitoring and Measures
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) is actively working with state authorities, local administrations, and stakeholders to implement effective measures for air pollution prevention, control, and abatement. These include monitoring emissions, controlling industrial pollutants, managing vehicular pollution, and promoting public awareness about air quality.

Authorities have pledged to intensify efforts to further enhance air quality in Delhi-NCR. Strategies include expanding green zones, enforcing stricter emission norms, and enhancing real-time monitoring to alert residents and authorities of pollution spikes. With sustained cooperation between government bodies, citizens, and industries, Delhi-NCR aims to maintain cleaner air and ensure healthier living conditions in the coming years.
