Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh visited Udhampur today to personally review the security arrangements in the region, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring peace and stability for the residents. In a high-level official meeting attended by senior civil and police officials, Dr. Singh emphasized that all concerns and constraints affecting security would be addressed with urgency and sensitivity. “We will ensure peace and safety for all. Miscreants will be dealt with firmly,” he said, striking a balance between reassurance and resolve.

During his visit, Dr. Singh also held a detailed meeting with Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, who is set to assume command as the General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the Northern Command in Udhampur from May 1. He praised the Indian Army’s consistent role in maintaining public morale, especially in sensitive areas, and extended his best wishes to Lt Gen Sharma as he takes over leadership at a critical juncture for Jammu and Kashmir.
In the security review, Dr. Singh engaged in extensive discussions about vulnerable areas, potential hotspots, and strategies to strengthen the security grid. Officials were directed to work in close coordination with all security agencies, ensuring that gaps are plugged effectively and proactively. The minister also expressed his deep appreciation for the district administration’s continuous efforts in maintaining law and order while advancing developmental projects in the region.
Though the media was not allowed into the high-level security meeting, Dr. Singh later addressed reporters briefly, explaining that certain sensitive information cannot be disclosed publicly to protect operational integrity. He reassured citizens that while many security operations happen away from public view, their positive impacts eventually become clear to all. He emphasized that the security forces are dedicated to keeping the public’s confidence high and ensuring that no citizen feels unsafe.
Among those present at the meeting were DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Sarah Rizvi, DC Udhampur Saloni Rai, SSP Amod Nagpure, ADDC Rajinder Singh, ADC Prem Singh, ACR Umesh Shan, SDMs Ranjit Kotwal, Rajinder Singh Rana, Manmeet Kumar, and Waheed Ul Rehman, along with other senior police officials.
The visit underlined the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering a secure and peaceful environment, rooted in close cooperation between civil administration, security forces, and the community.
