ECI Invites Public Input to Boost ECINet Election Platform

RR Team, November 29, 2025November 30, 2025
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has opened a nationwide call for public feedback to improve the ECINet mobile application, marking a major step toward strengthening the transparency, efficiency, and accessibility of India’s digital electoral systems. Citizens across the country can download the ECINet app and submit suggestions through the “Submit a Suggestion” feature between 27 November and 27 December 2025.

A New Digital Platform Tested in Bihar Elections

The ECINet app, currently in its trial phase, made its debut during the Bihar Legislative Assembly Elections 2025 as well as recent bye-elections. According to the ECI, the platform significantly enhanced the availability of election-related information and streamlined several administrative processes.

One of the most notable improvements was the rapid publication of Index Cards  a process that traditionally took weeks, if not months. With ECINet, Index Cards were generated within just 72 hours of polling. Early usage has demonstrated the platform’s potential to transform election management through real-time services and integrated information flow.

Based on field experience, feedback from CEOs, DEOs, EROs, election observers, and polling officials is already being incorporated to refine the app’s interface and functionality.

Public Suggestions to Shape the Final Product

The Commission has emphasized that citizen participation will play a crucial role in shaping the final version of the app. Every suggestion submitted during the one-month feedback window will be reviewed, evaluated, and considered for inclusion in the January 2026 full-scale launch.

This open call reflects the ECI’s ongoing commitment to participatory governance, transparent election administration, and leveraging technology for voter-centric services.

Leadership Behind the Initiative

The ECINet project is one of the flagship initiatives under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi. The app’s development was initiated soon after its formal announcement on 4 May 2025.

By consolidating multiple existing platforms into one unified interface, the ECINet project seeks to simplify the digital ecosystem for voters, candidates, and election officials alike.

A Unified Platform Integrating 40 Previous Apps

One of the most transformative features of the ECINet platform is its ability to replace and integrate 40 previously separate election-related applications and websites. These include some of the most widely used public tools, such as:

  • Voter Helpline App (VHA)
  • cVIGIL
  • Saksham
  • Polling Trends (Voter Turnout App)
  • Know Your Candidate (KYC)

By merging these services, ECINet aims to reduce fragmentation, enhance efficiency, and provide a smooth experience for users. The app is available on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store, making it accessible to millions of smartphone users.

Enhancing Transparency and Voter Convenience

Technology-driven electoral reforms have been a consistent priority for the Election Commission. With ECINet, the ECI aims to deliver a single, modern, integrated digital platform that caters to voter needs, improves service delivery, and strengthens the transparency of election processes.

The Commission expects the new platform to serve as a milestone in India’s journey towards an increasingly digitized and citizen-friendly electoral ecosystem.

How Citizens Can Participate

To support the improvement of ECINet, users simply need to:

  1. Download the ECINet app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  2. Open the app and navigate to the “Submit a Suggestion” tab.
  3. Share feedback, ideas, or issues encountered while using the platform.

The suggestion window will remain open until 27 December 2025.
