New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has announced a revised schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 12 States and Union Territories. The revision, referencing January 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, has now been extended by one week to ensure greater participation and accuracy in voter registration.

Updated Timelines for Special Intensive Revision

The Commission has clarified the key activities and revised deadlines under the SIR process as follows:

  • Enumeration Period: By 11.12.2025 (Thursday)
  • Rationalization/Re-arrangement of Polling Stations: By 11.12.2025 (Thursday)
  • Updation of Control Table and Draft Roll Preparation: 12.12.2025 (Friday) to 15.12.2025 (Monday)
  • Publication of Draft Electoral Roll: 16.12.2025 (Tuesday)
  • Period for Filing Claims & Objections: 16.12.2025 (Tuesday) to 15.01.2026 (Thursday)
  • Notice Phase (Issuance, Hearing & Verification): 16.12.2025 to 07.02.2026 (Saturday)
  • Checking Health Parameters & Commission Approval: By 10.02.2026 (Tuesday)
  • Final Publication of Electoral Roll: 14.02.2026 (Saturday)

Ensuring Comprehensive Voter Participation

The Special Intensive Revision aims to provide an inclusive, transparent, and updated voter list ahead of upcoming elections.
