RR Team, November 30, 2025December 1, 2025
New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has announced a revised schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 12 States and Union Territories. The revision, referencing January 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, has now been extended by one week to ensure greater participation and accuracy in voter registration.

Updated Timelines for Special Intensive Revision

The Commission has clarified the key activities and revised deadlines under the SIR process as follows:

  • Enumeration Period: By 11.12.2025 (Thursday)
  • Rationalization/Re-arrangement of Polling Stations: By 11.12.2025 (Thursday)
  • Updation of Control Table and Draft Roll Preparation: 12.12.2025 (Friday) to 15.12.2025 (Monday)
  • Publication of Draft Electoral Roll: 16.12.2025 (Tuesday)
  • Period for Filing Claims & Objections: 16.12.2025 (Tuesday) to 15.01.2026 (Thursday)

  • Checking Health Parameters & Commission Approval: By 10.02.2026 (Tuesday)
  • Final Publication of Electoral Roll: 14.02.2026 (Saturday)

Ensuring Comprehensive Voter Participation

The Special Intensive Revision aims to provide an inclusive, transparent, and updated voter list ahead of upcoming elections. Citizens are encouraged to verify their names, submit claims for new entries, or object to any discrepancies during the specified period. Election officials will also oversee verification and ensure the accuracy of all entries.

Key Notes for Voters and Officials

During the SIR, voters can participate by checking their details online or at designated centers. Officials are responsible for:

  • Verification of submitted claims and objections.
  • Real-time updates of control tables and draft electoral rolls.
  • Ensuring polling station rationalization is completed as per new schedules.
  • Coordination with local authorities to enhance outreach and accuracy.

Commitment to Transparent Elections

With this extension, the Election Commission aims to provide adequate time for citizens and officials alike, ensuring a robust, error-free voter database across all concerned States and UTs. Such steps are crucial to strengthen electoral integrity and democratic participation.
