The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Jagat Hazarika, Adviser (Statistics), DAHD, in the presence of Dr. B Gopi IAS, Director, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Government of Telangana. The event was hosted at the Telangana Institute of Rural Development (TGIRD) Training Institute in Hyderabad.
In his address, Shri Hazarika highlighted that data collected through the Integrated Sample Survey (ISS) at the village level is compiled and analyzed to inform state, national, and global statistics. Dr. B Gopi emphasized the critical importance of livestock data for policy-making and its applicability across both State and Union Government programs.
Dr. Prachi Mishra Sahoo, Principal Scientist at ICAR-IASRI, elaborated that these datasets have been fully digitized using the eLISS App Software since 2023–24, offering end-to-end solutions for efficient livestock data management across the country.
The workshop was attended by key officials including Dr. Ch Malleswari, Additional Director Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Telangana; Shri Chetram Meena, Deputy Director, DAHD; Shri Baidhar Swain, Assistant Director, DAHD; and Shri Surendra Mohan, State Nodal Officer, Telangana. Participants were trained on using the eLISS App to manage livestock survey data effectively, enhance reporting accuracy, and facilitate evidence-based decision-making in the animal husbandry sector.
This training initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of Southern Zone livestock officers in using technology for digitized monitoring, ensuring robust data collection and reporting, which is critical for policy planning and improving livestock productivity at the grassroots level.
