Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada 2025 Begins Nationwide

RR Team, November 1, 2025November 1, 2025
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has launched the ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada’ from 1st to 15th November 2025, marking the culmination of the year-long Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh celebrations and the 150th Birth Anniversary of Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The nationwide campaign aims to celebrate tribal pride, culture, and progress achieved under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Nationwide Celebrations of Tribal Heritage and Unity

Organised in collaboration with Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs), Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs), TRIFED, and NSTFDC, the Pakhwada will feature a series of cultural, educational, and social initiatives. The events will celebrate India’s rich tribal traditions and the contributions of tribal freedom fighters who played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s history.

From cultural festivals and folk art performances to exhibitions and awareness campaigns, the celebrations reflect India’s gratitude towards the tribal communities that embody the spirit of courage, self-reliance, and unity in diversity.

Honouring the Legacy of Bhagwan Birsa Munda

The two-week-long celebrations will culminate on 15th November 2025 observed as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas paying tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda, whose struggle against colonial oppression ignited India’s tribal freedom movement. Popularly known as Dharti Aaba (Father of Earth), Birsa Munda’s legacy continues to inspire millions toward self-determination and social justice.

Highlighting a Decade of Tribal Empowerment

Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the past decade has marked transformative progress in tribal welfare. Initiatives like PM JANMAN, Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, National Sickle Cell Elimination Mission, and DAJGUA have empowered tribal communities through education, healthcare, skill development, and entrepreneurship opportunities.

The Pakhwada’s theme, “Honouring 150 Years of Bhagwan Birsa Munda – Celebrating 11 Years of Tribal Empowerment”, underscores this journey of inclusion and advancement. The celebrations aim to spread awareness about government programs that have brought socio-economic transformation to remote tribal regions.

Pan-India Cultural Festivities and Events

The celebrations span diverse regions — from the Tribal Frames Film Festival in Manipur and Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Folk Art Festival in Chhattisgarh to Janjatiya Gaurav Yatra in Gujarat, Aadi Khel Diwas in Uttarakhand, and Tribal Melas in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Each event showcases India’s deep-rooted respect for its tribal identity and cultural resilience.

Public participation is being actively encouraged, making this year’s celebration a national movement honouring the values of sustainability, inclusivity, and unity envisioned by Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

Ministry’s Call for Collective Participation

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has invited citizens across India to take part in the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada and reaffirm their commitment to preserving the nation’s tribal heritage. The campaign also aims to amplify awareness of the contributions of tribal communities toward India’s development and environmental conservation.
