Juhi Chawla Tops Hurun Rich List as India’s Richest Actress

RR Team, October 1, 2025October 1, 2025
Former Bollywood superstar Juhi Chawla has emerged as India’s richest actress in the Hurun India Rich List 2025, with a staggering wealth of ₹7,790 crore. Despite not delivering a box office hit since 2012, Chawla has surpassed leading stars like Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, and Aishwarya Rai in net worth, largely due to her extensive business ventures.

Wealth Beyond the Big Screen

Chawla’s fortune is not primarily from cinema but from her and husband Jay Mehta’s diverse businesses. Their stakes in Red Chillies Entertainment and global Knight Riders cricket franchises have been key contributors. This business empire, built alongside Shah Rukh Khan, has grown steadily in value over the past decade.

The Hurun report highlights her as one of the richest actors globally, placing her far ahead of most Indian female film stars. By contrast, Aishwarya Rai’s wealth, according to various reports, is around ₹880 crore, a fraction of Chawla’s net worth.

A Selective Acting Career

Once a reigning star of the 1990s, Juhi Chawla gradually transitioned to supporting and character roles in the 2000s. Since 2010, she has appeared selectively in films like Gulaab Gang, Chalk and Duster, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, and Sharmaji Namkeen. Most of these projects have been smaller films or OTT releases.

Her last commercial success at the box office was Son of Sardaar (2012). Yet, her wealth demonstrates how diversification into sports and entertainment businesses can outpace traditional acting careers.

Other Celebrities on the List

The Hurun India Rich List also ranked other Bollywood names. Shah Rukh Khan leads among actors with ₹12,490 crore, while Hrithik Roshan has ₹2,160 crore, and Karan Johar stands at ₹1,880 crore. Amitabh Bachchan follows with a reported wealth of ₹1,630 crore.

Among industrialists, Reliance chief Mukesh Ambani once again topped the overall list as India’s wealthiest individual, reinforcing his dominance in business and investment sectors.

What the Numbers Reveal

Juhi Chawla’s story highlights how wealth creation in India’s entertainment industry now extends far beyond box office collections. From investments in cricket to production houses, diversification has become the key to long-term financial success.

While newer stars like Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone continue to dominate film projects and endorsements, Chawla’s business acumen has ensured her place as the country’s richest actress in 2025.
