Leaders Pay Tribute to 2019 Pulwama Martyrs

RR Team, February 14, 2026February 14, 2026
India on Saturday marked the seventh anniversary of the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several top leaders paying heartfelt tributes to the 40 CRPF personnel who lost their lives in one of the deadliest terror strikes in Jammu and Kashmir.

PM Modi: ‘Their Courage Strengthens Every Indian’

Remembering the martyrs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said their devotion and resolve continue to inspire the nation. In a message posted on social media, he stated that the sacrifice of the brave personnel remains etched in the country’s collective consciousness.

The Prime Minister emphasized that every Indian draws strength from the enduring courage displayed by the jawans who laid down their lives in the line of duty on February 14, 2019.

Vice President and Home Minister Pay Homage

Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan also paid tribute, noting that the supreme sacrifice of the CRPF personnel will forever remain in the nation’s memory. He said their bravery continues to inspire efforts toward building a secure and resilient India.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah described terrorism as the “greatest enemy of humanity” and reaffirmed India’s unwavering commitment to eliminate it. He said the nation remains indebted to the courage and dedication of security forces who confront terror threats.

Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor’s Tribute

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid homage to the martyrs, calling their sacrifice an enduring symbol of patriotism and duty. He said their unwavering commitment and selfless service to the motherland will continue to inspire generations.

The attack, which took place in the Lethpora area of Pulwama district, saw a suicide bomber ram an explosives-laden vehicle into a convoy bus carrying Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. The explosion killed 40 jawans and shook the entire nation.

Chief Ministers Remember the Fallen

Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh said the sacrifices made by the jawans will never be forgotten. He expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs and reaffirmed the country’s collective resolve to safeguard its unity and sovereignty.

Former Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh also paid tribute, stating that the martyrs’ decision to put duty above life strengthened the soul of the nation and left behind a legacy of courage and patriotism.

From Pulwama to Balakot

The Pulwama attack marked a turning point in India’s counter-terror response. Days after the attack, India launched a retaliatory strike targeting terror infrastructure across the border in what came to be known as the Balakot airstrike.

The anniversary serves as a reminder of the ongoing fight against terrorism and the sacrifices made by security forces to protect the nation.

Nation Stands United

Across the country, citizens, security personnel, and political leaders observed the day with solemn remembrance. Social media platforms were filled with messages honouring the martyrs and reaffirming support for the armed forces.

Seven years after the Pulwama terror attack, the memory of the 40 CRPF personnel continues to unite the nation in grief, pride, and determination. Their sacrifice remains a powerful symbol of India’s resolve to stand firm against terrorism.
