Legal Affairs Dept Marks Blood Donor Day with Action

RR Team, June 12, 2025June 12, 2025

Legal Affairs Department Leads by Example on World Blood Donor Day

From courtrooms to compassion, ministry staff donate blood to save lives and promote civic welfare.

Human Touch Behind the Law

The Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, stepped beyond the corridors of policy and litigation on June 11, 2025, by organizing a blood donation camp in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi.

This meaningful initiative was a heartfelt tribute to World Blood Donor Day, observed globally on June 14. It brought together officers, senior officials, and even lady staff members in a collective gesture of solidarity and humanity.

“Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We Save Lives” — the theme of the year — became more than just words. It became a mission.

Leading by Example

Dr. Anju Rathi Rana, Law Secretary, graced the event and emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation in strengthening both individual responsibility and public health infrastructure.

She applauded the officers for stepping forward not just as professionals, but as citizens driven by empathy and commitment.

Red Cross Partnership: A Trusted Ally

The presence and coordination of the Indian Red Cross Society ensured the blood donation process was seamless, safe, and impactful. With their medical expertise and trained teams, the Red Cross collected high-quality blood units, essential for emergency treatments and life-saving procedures across India.

Each unit collected today could potentially save three lives, echoing the profound ripple effect one voluntary act can create.

Culture of Service Beyond Paperwork

What makes this initiative stand out is not just the act of donating blood—but the values it reinforces within a government department:

Compassion in action

Corporate social responsibility from within ministries

Awareness about the continuous need for safe blood

Inspiration for other departments and public offices

It underlined that public service doesn’t end at policy-making. True impact lies in everyday actions that align with broader human values.

A Day That Made a Difference

From first-time donors to regular contributors, the stories shared by participants reflected hope, commitment, and solidarity. Many spoke about wanting to give back to society in meaningful ways.

One young official remarked:

“We may write the laws that govern the nation, but today we contributed to saving a life. That is a powerful feeling.”

Looking Ahead: A Model for Other Ministries

This initiative by the Department of Legal Affairs sets a precedent for how public institutions can embody compassion. By linking governance with ground-level human action, it breathes life into the spirit of citizen-first service delivery.

As World Blood Donor Day approaches, this effort sends out a clear message — service to the nation begins with service to its people.
