In a major development, the Supreme Court has granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who had been imprisoned for the last six months in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader had previously been granted temporary bail for a few days ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, but now he is set to leave jail after securing bail from the Enforcement Directorate case.
Despite his release, Kejriwal faces restrictions on his duties. He cannot visit his office, and the Delhi Secretariat, or sign official files without the consent of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. In a session held Friday morning, Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice Surya Kant delivered separate judgments on Kejriwal’s two bail pleas but agreed that he should be released.

In his first public statement outside the jail, Kejriwal expressed his determination to stand firm against forces that he believes are obstructing the nation’s development.
