Celebrating Yoga for Health and Harmony

In the spirit of International Yoga Day 2025, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs organized a rejuvenating Yoga Workshop on 11 June 2025. The session took place in Committee Room 62, Samvidhan Sadan, New Delhi, fostering awareness about the importance of yoga in today’s fast-paced professional lives.

The workshop was conducted under the expert guidance of Dr. Ramesh Kumar, Professor, Department of Yoga Science, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, Delhi. It aimed to blend mental wellness and physical health into the busy schedules of government officials.

Leadership Presence and Inauguration

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Satya Prakash, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. Other senior officials who attended included:

  • A.B. Acharya, Director

  • Sanjeev, Director (NIC)

  • Mukesh Kumar, Deputy Secretary

  • S.S. Patra, Deputy Secretary

  • Along with all other officers and staff from the Ministry

Their collective presence emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to employee well-being and holistic health.

Yoga and Its Role in Office Efficiency

Dr. Ramesh Kumar began the session by highlighting yoga’s timeless value in everyday life. He explained how simple breathing techniques (Pranayama) and stretching postures (Asanas) can:

  • Alleviate workplace stress

  • Enhance concentration

  • Boost physical stamina

  • Improve overall mental clarity

He led participants through a live yoga demonstration, showing how 10–15 minutes of daily yoga during work hours can make a noticeable difference in one’s energy and focus.

Yoga as a Wellness Strategy in Government Offices

Incorporating yoga into office life is becoming a national trend, particularly in government ministries. As stress-related issues rise, yoga offers a cost-effective and efficient tool to restore balance. The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs is now among the key administrative bodies promoting this ancient wellness science at the grassroots of policymaking.

Building a Healthier Workforce Through Traditional Wisdom

The Ministry plans to continue wellness initiatives throughout the year, reinforcing yoga as a regular part of administrative life. Officials believe that healthier employees lead to a more productive and happier workplace.

Yoga, once seen as a spiritual or fitness practice, is now recognized as a strategic workplace wellness tool—bridging ancient Indian traditions with modern governance.
