Union Minister to Chair Discussions
The conference will be chaired by Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Joining him will be agriculture ministers of various states, the Secretary of the Union Agriculture Ministry, the Secretary of the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), and the Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Senior officials from related ministries will also participate.
First-Ever Two-Day Rabi Conference
For the first time, the Rabi Abhiyan Conference is being held over two days on the direction of the Union Agriculture Minister. The inaugural day will focus on technical discussions between central and state officials. On the second day, agriculture ministers from all states, along with Union Ministers of State, will hold in-depth deliberations on policy measures and practical solutions for farmers.
Focus on Technology and Farmers’ Welfare
A key highlight will be exploring how improved seed varieties, modern farming technologies, and innovative practices can be delivered effectively to farmers. Senior officials from every state are expected to attend with their teams, ensuring region-specific issues and challenges are addressed. For the first time, scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) have also been invited to share local-level insights.
Exchange of Best Practices
The conference will feature sessions on weather forecasting, fertiliser management, agricultural research, and technology adoption. Successful case studies and best practices from different states will be showcased to enable replication across regions. Experts will also highlight how sustainable farming techniques can improve crop yields while safeguarding the environment.
Ensuring Food Security and Farmer Prosperity
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the conference is a vital step in shaping the action plan and production strategies for the Rabi 2025–26 season. The deliberations aim to boost farmers’ income, ensure national food security, and promote sustainable agriculture. With inputs from experts, scientists, and policymakers, the event will lay down a roadmap for empowering India’s farmers in the upcoming sowing season.
