Nearly 79 Lakh Jobseekers Register on NCS Portal in FY26

RR Team, February 5, 2026February 6, 2026
The National Career Service (NCS) portal has emerged as a major pillar of India’s employment facilitation framework, with nearly 79 lakh jobseekers registering during the financial year 2025–26. Alongside this, more than 12.36 lakh employers joined the platform, resulting in the mobilisation of over 3.43 crore job vacancies across sectors.
The data, shared by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, reflects the growing reliance on digital platforms for career services and workforce matching. The NCS portal continues to expand its footprint as a one-stop digital solution for employment-related services nationwide.

Strong Employer Participation Drives Vacancy Growth

As per official figures, over 3.43 crore vacancies were mobilised on the NCS portal during FY 2025–26, highlighting robust participation from both private and government sector employers. The rising vacancy numbers indicate improved trust in the portal as a reliable hiring and talent discovery platform.

Employers use NCS to post job requirements, conduct recruitment drives, and connect directly with verified jobseekers. This has significantly reduced information gaps in the labour market, particularly for first-time job aspirants and those in semi-urban and rural regions.

Model Career Centres Expand On-Ground Support

To complement its digital services, the NCS project also focuses on physical outreach through Model Career Centres (MCCs). So far, the Government of India has approved 407 MCCs in collaboration with states and institutions across the country.

These centres offer personalised employment assistance, career guidance, counselling sessions, and job-matching services. They also act as local hubs for awareness programmes, workshops, and orientation sessions for students, jobseekers, and employers.

Over 55 Lakh Career Guidance Sessions Conducted

The NCS portal has placed strong emphasis on career counselling and vocational guidance. As of January 20, 2026, more than 1,180 certified career counsellors have been onboarded on the platform.

Together, they have conducted over 55 lakh online and offline career guidance sessions across India. These sessions help jobseekers understand labour market trends, identify suitable career paths, and make informed decisions regarding skilling and employment.

Integration with Skill India Digital Hub

To enhance employability, the NCS portal is integrated with the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH). This integration enables jobseekers to access skilling, reskilling, and upskilling programmes aligned with industry demand.

Through SIDH, users can enrol in digital skill enhancement programmes, employability courses, and self-paced career skill modules. Skilled candidates from SIDH can seamlessly transition to job opportunities available on the NCS portal.

Awareness Campaigns and Digital Outreach

The Ministry of Labour and Employment regularly promotes the NCS platform through social media campaigns and monthly e-newsletters. These initiatives aim to increase awareness about available vacancies, job fairs, counselling services, and new features.

Model Career Centres also conduct grassroots outreach activities in states and Union Territories to ensure wider adoption among youth, women, and marginalised jobseekers.

Government Reaffirms Commitment to Employment Services

The information was shared by Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha. The government reiterated its commitment to strengthening digital employment infrastructure and bridging the gap between skills and jobs.
