Pi Network KYC Update: Millions Unblocked for Mainnet Migration

RR Team, February 1, 2026February 1, 2026
Pi Network has announced a significant set of KYC and Mainnet migration updates that will allow millions of previously blocked users, known as Pioneers, to fully participate in its blockchain ecosystem. The latest technical changes mark one of the largest expansions of access since the project began, reinforcing Pi’s emphasis on identity verification and network integrity.

The update enables large-scale Mainnet migration while preparing additional improvements to the Know Your Customer process. Pi Network says the changes strengthen its position as one of the world’s largest identity-verified blockchain ecosystems.

Millions unblocked for Mainnet migration

According to Pi Network, nearly 2.5 million Pioneers who were previously blocked due to enhanced security and compliance checks have now been cleared to migrate to the Mainnet. These users were earlier held back because of region-specific reviews and account verification requirements.

For eligible Pioneers, the system will automatically migrate their transferable Pi balance, provided they remain active in mining and have completed all steps in the Mainnet Checklist. This automated migration aims to reduce delays and streamline participation.

Why Pi unblocks KYC and migration in phases

Pi Network clarified that KYC approvals and Mainnet migrations are unblocked in batches rather than all at once. Different groups of users face different technical or compliance-related issues, such as additional identity checks or unresolved account security flags.

Each scenario requires a tailored technical solution to ensure genuine users are approved while preventing misuse of the network. Once a solution is deployed, the affected group is unblocked, determining the pace of these large-scale updates.

Over 700,000 more Pioneers to gain KYC access

In another major announcement, Pi Network confirmed that more than 700,000 Pioneers who were previously unable to submit KYC applications will be allowed to do so within the next few weeks. The network continues to process accounts carefully to maintain the integrity of Mainnet migration.

Pi advised users who were earlier blocked to regularly check the Pi app for updates. Completing KYC at the earliest will help users move smoothly to the next stages of participation in the ecosystem.

Palm print authentication enters beta testing

Pi Network also revealed plans to test palm print authentication as a beta feature within its KYC system. The new method is being explored as an additional way to verify human authenticity while offering stronger privacy protection.

Unlike face-based checks, palm print verification does not require showing facial features, making it suitable for users who already require multiple liveness or identity re-checks. The feature could eventually support account recovery, password resets and two-factor authentication.

KYC validator rewards on track for March 2026

The network also provided an update on KYC validator rewards, confirming that distribution remains on track for deployment by the end of March 2026. The system design and implementation have been completed and are currently undergoing extensive testing.

Pi Network noted that the complexity of distributing rewards fairly stems from the enormous volume of validation data accumulated since 2021. Ensuring accuracy, scalability and Mainnet security remains a key priority before the first payout cycle.

Pi strengthens identity-verified blockchain model

With over 16 million Pioneers already migrated to the Mainnet, Pi Network says it now stands apart as a large-scale, identity-verified blockchain. The project believes this foundation will be crucial for real-world utility and long-term adoption.
