PLASTINDIA 2026 Opens at Bharat Mandapam with ‘Bharat Next’ Vision

RR Team, February 5, 2026February 6, 2026
PLASTINDIA 2026, one of the world’s largest and most influential exhibitions for the plastics industry, commenced on Wednesday at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, marking a significant milestone in India’s manufacturing and industrial journey. The 12th edition of the prestigious triennial event is being held from February 5 to 10, with the active support of the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.

Organised under the forward-looking theme “Bharat Next,” PLASTINDIA 2026 reflects India’s evolving role as a global manufacturing hub while aligning closely with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat. The exhibition brings together policymakers, global manufacturers, innovators, and young professionals on a single platform to showcase India’s growing capabilities in plastics, polymers, and sustainable materials.

Global Showcase of Technology and Sustainability

This year’s edition features more than 2,000 exhibitors from India and abroad, presenting cutting-edge machinery, advanced processing technologies, raw materials, and next-generation sustainable solutions across the entire plastics value chain. From packaging and infrastructure materials to automotive, healthcare, and consumer applications, PLASTINDIA 2026 underlines the sector’s vast economic and industrial footprint.

A major highlight of the exhibition is its commitment to sustainability. PLASTINDIA 2026 is being organised as a Zero Waste Exhibition, with comprehensive systems in place for segregation, recycling, and reuse of all solid waste generated during the six-day event. This initiative reinforces India’s focus on the circular economy and responsible industrial growth.

CIPET’s Role in Building a Future-Ready Workforce

The Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), a national institution under DCPC and a founder member of the Plastindia Foundation, has emerged as a key participant at the exhibition. Through its dedicated pavilion, CIPET is highlighting its contributions in skill development, applied research, innovation, and technological advancement in the polymer and plastics sector.

CIPET’s presence underscores the growing emphasis on bridging the gap between academia and industry. Its initiatives aim to prepare a skilled, future-ready workforce capable of meeting global manufacturing standards while supporting India’s expanding industrial ecosystem.

Government Reaffirms Commitment to Industry Growth

The exhibition was visited by Ms. Nivedita Shukla Verma, Secretary, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, who interacted extensively with industry leaders, professionals, and students at the CIPET pavilion. During her interaction with students, she encouraged continuous upskilling in line with rapidly evolving global industry requirements.

She highlighted CIPET’s evolving teaching methodologies and stressed the importance of strong industry-academia linkages to ensure employability and innovation. In her discussions with industry representatives, the Secretary reaffirmed the Government of India’s commitment to sustainable industrial growth, technology adoption, and expanding global employment opportunities for Indian talent.

Five Pillars Shaping PLASTINDIA 2026

PLASTINDIA 2026 is structured around five strategic pillars — Trade, Technology, Talent, Tradition, and Tourism. These pillars aim to not only promote business and investment but also celebrate India’s manufacturing heritage while encouraging innovation and global collaboration.

The Indian plastics industry, currently valued at approximately ₹3 to ₹3.5 lakh crore, plays a critical role in infrastructure development, consumer goods manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, and export-driven supply chains. As India moves steadily toward becoming a USD 10 trillion economy, the sector is expected to remain a key driver of industrial growth and employment.

Strengthening India’s Global Manufacturing Image

With participation from international delegations, technology leaders, and startups, PLASTINDIA 2026 positions India as a competitive and responsible player in the global plastics and polymer ecosystem. The exhibition also provides a platform for knowledge exchange, business partnerships, and showcasing innovations that align economic growth with environmental responsibility.
