New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in a shooting incident in Canada, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wishing a speedy recovery to those injured.
In a message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said he was deeply shocked by the tragic incident and conveyed India’s support to the people of Canada during this moment of grief.

Message of Condolence

“Deeply shocked by the horrendous shooting in Canada. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” the Prime Minister wrote.

He further emphasized that India stands firmly with Canada, stating, “India stands in solidarity with the people of Canada in this moment of profound grief.”

The Prime Minister also tagged Canadian political leader @MarkJCarney in his post, reflecting India’s outreach and diplomatic engagement during the tragic circumstances.

India-Canada Solidarity in Difficult Times

India and Canada share longstanding diplomatic ties, people-to-people connections, and vibrant diaspora relations. The Prime Minister’s message underscores the spirit of global solidarity that transcends borders during humanitarian crises.

Expressions of sympathy and unity following tragic incidents have often formed an important part of international relations. By extending condolences, India reaffirmed its commitment to stand with friendly nations in times of sorrow.

Global Condemnation of Violence

Shooting incidents continue to raise concerns globally, prompting leaders to reiterate the need for peace and collective efforts to prevent violence. While details of the incident are being handled by Canadian authorities, international leaders have conveyed their sympathies to the affected families.

Prime Minister Modi’s message aligns with India’s consistent position against violence and its support for victims of tragic events worldwide.

The Prime Minister’s condolence message was officially released by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) on February 11, 2026.

As investigations into the incident continue in Canada, the focus remains on supporting the victims and their families. The tragedy has once again highlighted the importance of international solidarity and compassion during times of profound loss.
