PM Modi Condoles Demise of Former Union Minister Kabindra Purkayastha

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed deep grief over the demise of former Member of Parliament and Union Minister Shri Kabindra Purkayastha Ji. The Prime Minister described the loss as deeply painful and paid rich tributes to the veteran leader’s lifelong dedication to public service and his significant contribution to the development of Assam.
Shri Purkayastha, a respected political figure from Assam, was known for his unwavering commitment to society and his role in strengthening democratic and organisational structures in the region.

PM Modi Pays Tribute on Social Media

In a message shared on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said he was pained by the passing of Shri Kabindra Purkayastha Ji and highlighted his lasting legacy in Assam’s political and social landscape.

The Prime Minister noted that Shri Purkayastha’s contribution towards the progress of Assam would always be remembered and acknowledged his crucial role in strengthening the Bharatiya Janata Party across the state.

Message in English and Assamese Reflects Deep Respect

In a rare gesture underscoring his personal connection with the people of the Northeast, the Prime Minister expressed his condolences both in English and Assamese. In his Assamese message, he reaffirmed Shri Purkayastha’s dedication to social service and his enduring impact on Assam’s development.

The bilingual tribute resonated strongly with party workers and citizens across the state, reflecting the late leader’s deep roots in Assam’s public life.

Shri Kabindra Purkayastha served as a Member of Parliament and held responsibilities as a Union Minister, during which he earned a reputation as a disciplined, approachable and principled leader.
