PM Modi Condoles Loss in Sri Lanka Due to Cyclone Ditwah

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today expressed his heartfelt condolences to the people of Sri Lanka who have lost their loved ones due to the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah. He prayed for the safety, comfort, and swift recovery of all affected families.
In a strong gesture of solidarity with India’s closest maritime neighbour, the Government of India has urgently dispatched relief materials and vital Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) support under Operation Sagar Bandhu. The Indian government stands ready to provide additional aid and assistance as the situation evolves.

Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed that India’s support is guided by the principles of the Neighbourhood First policy and Vision MAHASAGAR, emphasizing India’s commitment to stand firmly with Sri Lanka in its hour of need.

Shri Modi, in a post on X, stated: My heartfelt condolences to the people of Sri Lanka who have lost their loved ones due to Cyclone Ditwah. I pray for the safety, comfort and swift recovery of all affected families. In solidarity with our closest maritime neighbour, India has urgently dispatched relief materials and vital HADR support under Operation Sagar Bandhu. We stand ready to provide more aid and assistance as the situation evolves. Guided by India’s Neighbourhood First policy and Vision MAHASAGAR, India continues to stand firmly with Sri Lanka in its hour of need.

India’s rapid response underlines its commitment to regional cooperation and humanitarian support. Relief teams are actively coordinating with Sri Lankan authorities to ensure that essential supplies, medical aid, and disaster response resources reach the most affected areas swiftly.

Officials confirmed that India is prepared to extend further assistance as required, including additional HADR support, highlighting the strong bilateral ties between the two nations and India’s role as a reliable partner in times of crisis.

Prime Minister Modi’s gesture reflects India’s enduring commitment to regional stability, people-centric diplomacy, and its proactive approach under the Neighbourhood First policy to provide immediate assistance to neighbouring countries in distress.
