PM Modi Congratulates Indian Squash Team on Historic World Cup Win

New Delhi: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated the Indian Squash Team for creating history by winning their first-ever World Cup title at the SDAT Squash World Cup 2025, hailing the triumph as a landmark moment for Indian sports.

The Prime Minister praised the outstanding performances of Joshna Chinnappa, Abhay Singh, Velavan Senthil Kumar and Anahat Singh, whose collective effort powered India to a historic victory on the global squash stage.

In his message, Shri Modi said the team’s dedication, discipline and determination have brought immense pride to the nation and highlighted the steady rise of Indian athletes in international competitions.

A Historic First for Indian Squash

The SDAT Squash World Cup 2025 victory marks India’s first-ever World Cup title in squash, a sport that has steadily gained momentum in the country over the past decade.

The Indian team’s success reflects years of sustained investment in training, infrastructure and exposure to international competition, enabling players to compete confidently against the world’s best.

Veteran player Joshna Chinnappa brought her vast international experience to the team, providing leadership and consistency during crucial matches.
